Japanese paper/japanese tissue paper
Scissors
Wire or string
In case you are lazy, try to get
this already cut and tied Japanese papers from Daiso. I did this last time in
my wedding and I am amazed how it turns out to be a perfect wedding décor.
Price is also affordable for as low as S$2/pack consisting of 14 pompoms.
Although the instructions are in Japanese, you will be able to understand it because of the drawing.
Let me give you a better idea on how to do it. Follow the steps below to achieve a perfect pom poms decor.
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inch wide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.
2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral
wire in half (depending on what size you want to make), and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim
ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.
3. Now carefully pull the strips of
paper away one by one. Tissue paper/ Japanese paper is extremely thin and can
therefore tear easily. But don’t worry, you won’t notice when the strips are
joined together in the finished pom pom.
4. Once you have pulled away the
strips and the Pom Poms has become slightly oval, use your hands to gently
create a more rounded shape. Well done! You are now ready to hang the Pom Poms
above your reception table and sofa or hang them on your wedding reception.
